Editorial: Speiser for county school board

Being there for kids who fall through the cracks of the standard educational system is what the Santa Clara County Office of Education is all about... Speiser, in her eighth year on the LASD board, is an attorney who is equally sharp and comes highly qualified for the same reasons... We also appreciate where Speiser is coming from. She fought her way out of an abusive parent and low-income background to become a community leader in one of the most educated areas in the world. This woman has compassion for serving the county’s underserved students and the drive to fight for them. It’s time for a change on the county school board: Vote Speiser on Nov. 5.

Jessica is running for County Board of Education because her upbringing instilled in her one core belief: The demographics you are born into should not determine your destiny. She knows from first hand experience that a good public school education can help every child succeed. Every child in Santa Clara County deserves that opportunity, and Jessica will fight for them to have it. Jessica is an attorney, mother of three, Trustee and past president of the Los Altos School District Board, and immediate past president of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association.
